what are the benefits of a manual over an automatic?
i can drive a manual but most of the time i cant be bothered... but my guy friends say a manual is better so what are the reasons why

It makes you tough and cool!
No seriously, I guess "real" drivers like an automatic because it does give you more control. They are also slightly more fuel efficent
For me, driving a manual is better cause it keeps all my arms and legs occupied and I have to "think" more. If you're in an auto it's easy to just sit back and drift of IMHO. I would go nuts in an auto, what would my left foot and arm do?
