Do Dell laptops suck?
Looking for a new laptop, can pick up a cheap one that is 2nd hand but not too old (less than a year).
Are Dell laptops any good or do they suck? Is it best to buy a new one so I get the warranty? Any other brands worth considering?

In my experience it really depends on the particular model. Some Dell models were notorious for being particularly crappy and requiring extensive returns to base.
As for Dell support, well frankly its gotten worse over the years thank to outsourcing. So I would not view it as plus. Then again if it is a hardware fault and you have the warranty Dell are usually pretty quick about replacing parts etc. So I guess it depends on how much you value a rapid turn around.

Can't give you a yes or no on this one. I've had two Dell laptops over the last 5 years. One was from work and the other was my personal one.
The work one had issues and had to be returned not once but twice, whereas my personal one is still going strong.
