Resolved Question
Anyone going to buy Windows 7?
So it seems Windows 7 will be a lot better than Vista (which I have no personal opinions on as I still use Windows XP).
Anyone going to splurge on it? If so, why? Will it still run ok on hardware that is 2 years old?

I have a copy of the Windows 7 RTM (release to master) which I got through my MSDN subscription.
I can tell you now that overall it is a lot more polished than Vista and "feels" snappier, although that may just perception. Overall I think it is a good OS and although Vista was not the complete dog that some make it out to be, Windows 7 does have numerous improvements.
2 year old hardware should be ok, as I've read Windows 7 runs fine on NetBooks (which have vastly reduced computing power), the beauty of Windows 7 is you can disable/not install a lot of services and keep it lean.
To make the most out of it though it will run best on newer hardware, so it depends on what you really have, after all quad cores are now two years old!
